My story starts here: older mom, son now 4 years going to be 5 years soon, trying to conceive for sometime with no luck so went to my regular OB. She checked FSH which was 75 and AMH <0.03. Got a phone call that I was entering "menopause" and may not conceive. I was referred to fertility specialist who said egg donor and natural conception chances <5%. What everyone ignored was that I was under severe chronic stress for 1 year and 1 year ago my FSH was 4. My fertility specialist disregarded it and said stress was irrelevant with such high numbers and that it was "natural progression" premature ovarian failure though I was still having menses and there is no such family history. So I started to do some research on stress and fertility (very strong correlation by way) and found Jose through American Board of Reproductive Accupuncture Medicine (only 4 in MA). And YES reproductive acupuncturists treat differently than general accupuncture for fertility. I had only missed 1 missed 1 menstrual cycle (that too related to stress and sleep deprivation.) I got my menses back after 2 treatments in 1 week. Got Day 3 Labs done through fertility specialist---FSH came down to 24 and AMH went up to <o.10. Okay granted these numbers are still a normal but HUGE improvement. My day 3 ultrasound showed only 1 follicle each ovary. But guess what!!?? POSITIVE pregnancy test after 4 weeks!! All my doctors were in shock. ...:) I continued the treatments until 12-13 weeks. Jose has been extremely professional, understanding and a miracle of hopes!! Thank you for everything you do. I know everyone's stories are different but there is HOPE if someone is ready to listen and really understand what's going on.

I first started seeing Jose about five months ago right after I was diagnosed with Diminished Ovarian Reserve. The doctor I was seeing at the time told me IVF was my best option and to try it right away. He also said I had only a 1-2% chance of ever conceiving on my own. I was devastated to say the least. I did not want to go down the IVF road. I did my research and found Family Acupuncture & Herbs of Reading and upon my first meeting with Jose I knew I was in the right hands. He was so knowledgeable, very kind and made me feel at ease instantly. I began to see him for acupuncture treatments twice a week while taking daily herbs. He also took the time to give me suggestions on diet changes which I thought was very helpful and always spent as much time answering my questions as I needed. Every time I saw Jose I felt so calm and my stress levels were greatly reduced. He even helped me out with some horrible neck pain one day. I walked out that day feeling like a new person! About four months into my acupuncture treatment I decided to go to a different Fertility clinic for a second opinion. They reran my tests and the two things that had led to the DOR diagnosis back in March had completely normalized, I was thrilled! They did discover a thyroid issue though and I started to take medication immediately. That doctor said to try for a few more months naturally without any fertility treatments at this time and see what happens. A few weeks later I found out I was pregnant! I consider Jose to be a big part of this happening and I would highly recommend his practice to anyone. I genuinely looked forward to every one of my sessions and I will continue to visit his practice in the future.

I got acupuncture with Jose to supplement my IVF treatment in April 2023. I started the treatment in early April and had my egg retrieval by the end of May. I started to see Jose after 4 failed IVF cycles from which we had zero PGT normal embryos. After the treatment with him, I had 24 eggs retrieved and we ended up with 2 PGT normal embryos from that cycle. In my previous cycles, I used to have around 18-20 eggs on the day of the stimulation. But never many of them made it to the retrieval day. In the previous 4 cycles, they retrieved 11, 4, 16, and 9 eggs respectively and we never had a normal embryo from those cycles. From those 4 cycles, we sent 4 embryos in total for PGT (1 embryo per cycle) and none of them were normal. After the acupuncture treatment with Jose, 24 eggs made it to the retrieval day, we got 4 embryos, and 2 of them were PGT normal. Jose’s treatment did wonders for me. We were shocked about this result. We are so grateful to him! His holistic approach kept me relaxed, positive, and excited for good results, and obviously helped the eggs to develop evenly at a similar pace, which is very important. We can’t thank him enough! Initially, my husband was very skeptical about acupuncture and generally about non-Western treatment options. But he is now so grateful that I insisted that we invest in acupuncture too. Your doctor too might be skeptical about acupuncture. However, a standard IVF treatment alone works rarely for many women.Also, before Jose, I tried two acupuncturists for a few sessions. Because I didn’t feel much difference, I dropped it. However, after one session with Jose, I saw a big difference physically and mentally.

I couldn't be happier with my experience here! Jose helped my husband and I get pregnant not once but twice. We had tried for almost two years with my first daughter to get pregnant. I had a number of tests done and the results were unexplained infertility. I am young and healthy and couldn't believe that I would have to do fertility treatments quite yet. I did three rounds of Clomid, but didn't have any luck. After being frustrated and emotional I wanted to try alternative measures. My husband and I were diagnosed with unexplained infertility and conceived our son through IVF in 2009. We decided to try for our second without the help of reproductive technology, but after two and a half years of unsuccessful attempts, we knew we needed help. A friend recommended I see Jose for a consult and I began working with him in January 2014. I saw Jose for acupuncture twice a week and took herbs daily to support my menstrual cycle. My cycles had already been pretty regular so I didn’t experience much change in this area, but I found the acupuncture to be very relaxing and overall felt really good during the 6 months I saw Jose. After 6 months, my husband and I returned to our fertility doctor for updated testing. Once again our tests came back normal and our infertility remained unexplained. Our doctor said that we would be excellent candidates for another cycle of IVF, but we decided against it and went back to Jose with our test results. After reviewing my husband’s testing, Jose immediately recognized low morphology as an area of concern. What was considered “normal” by our doctor was not normal after all. Firstly, I highly recommend Jose. I am so appreciative of everything he has done. After having 2 miscarriages before beginning IVF treatments. I looked into acupuncture and the benefits of coupling it with IVF; I started seeing him about a year ago while simultaneously undergoing IVF treatments. I was hoping that the two together would help my chances. My doctors while ok with the acupuncture advised me against taking any herbal medicines. Well, after 2 years and 5 cycles of IVF treatments I still hadn’t been able to carry a viable pregnancy. I started seeing Jose after I hadn't experienced any success from treating fertility with an acupuncturist with a general practice. I was amazed at the difference in seeing someone who has trained specifically in fertility from an acupuncture standpoint (Jose is one of very few people that is board certified in fertility). Not only did his eastern medicine explanations make a lot of sense in explaining my issues, but he has a strong understanding of western medicine and the tests and procedures my fertility clinic was performing. I ended up needing a lot more western medical intervention than I had hoped to eventually get pregnant, but I have no doubt that Jose helped a lot during that process, in stress reduction, sleep, regulation of cycle, and supporting my fertility. I think if I had started seeing him years ago when I started this process, he could have made an even greater impact in feeding my fertility in a way my body had not been for years. I sought out acupuncture a few months into trying to conceive to help with the stress of trying and fertility. TTC truly felt so isolating and the forgotten part of health care; no one really cares unless you have been trying for over a year, or are already pregnant. Jose was different. He really cares and is supportive, compassionate, and so knowledgeable in his field. On some of my tougher days (after starting my cycle) he was always there with reassurance and hope.I have always been terrified of needles, and the acupuncture really didn't bother me at all. Jose was so good at explaining where he would be placing the needles, what it would feel like and was always very gentle. I spent about two months in acupuncture and always felt immense stress relief after leaving. We are now pregnant with our first child and are so thankful to Jose for all he has done!

I first saw Jose when I was sick, stressed, and desperate for help. I have chronic GI problems and at this time in my life I was in a terrible flare-up caused by extreme stress and poor dietary choices. I called Jose and told him how miserable I was, and he fit me in that day. He gave me herbs which I took daily for about 4-5 weeks, and did double-sided acupuncture treatments two times per week to start. After just two doses of herbs I noticed an improvement, and with continued acupuncture, I had great relief from my symptoms. The stress and anxiety just disappeared, and the GI symptoms improved so much that I was able to work regularly and go out with friends again. I now see Jose once every two weeks for maintenance. I came to see Jose after two failed IVF cycles from another clinic. I was at the point where I thought I would never be pregnant again but here I am today holding my baby boy in my arms due to Jose’s acupuncture and his recommendation to seek a second opinion with CCRM. I had multiple failed transfers before seeing Jose but he worked with me for several months prior to my transfer cycle and this last embryo finally stuck. My husband and I had been trying to conceive for a little over a year when we first met with Jose. We had been meeting with a fertility specialist, but after the suggestion of a colleague decided to add another more holistic approach. I approached acupuncture with an open mind understanding that it would not work over night. Jose came highly recommended and they were right!! My husband and I wanted to personally write a testimonial to recognize everything that Jose Ruiz did to help us conceive our perfectly healthy baby boy.
For a range of reasons, we found ourselves at age 42 (both of us), wanting to do all we could to conceive a child. We explored IVF, but ultimately chose not to pursue fertility treatments. I had been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), and my husband had low morphology (0%–Kruger Strict Criteria). We had been trying on our own for 10 months, when, through my own research, I decided that acupuncture and herbs could make a real difference in our ability to conceive. Through my research, I knew that Jose had studied under Randine Lewis, the author of The Infertility Cure: The Ancient Chinese Wellness Program for Getting Pregnant and Having Healthy Babies. I talked it over with my husband, and we both decided that working with Jose could really help us.
We began working with Jose in the Summer of 2012, a few months away from my 44th birthday (my husband was already 44). Throughout our work with him, he was consistently encouraging, attentive, positive, flexible, and responsive. From the beginning, he did everything he could to tailor his acupuncture and herb treatments to our unique circumstances. Through consultations with both of us, he created distinct treatment approaches for both me and my husband. David only received herbs, while I received both acupuncture and herbs. He worked with both of us to assess our current vitamin and supplement regimens, adjusting what we were taking to blend optimally with the herbs we were taking. He also helped us adjust our diet: low sugar; minimal flour, wheat, and dairy, and caffeine; increases in protein, vegetables, and low-sugar fruits.
Soon, my ovulation signals began to get stronger and stronger. My husband’s Kruger Strict Criteria morphology went from 0% to 1.5%. On his own, Jose continued to study precise treatment approaches related to PCOS, to further refine my treatments. After 10 months of working with Jose, in May of 2013, at age 44, my husband and I naturally conceived. My pregnancy progressed without any complications related to my age. I carried our baby to full term (40 weeks), and in February of 2014, gave birth to our perfectly healthy baby boy.
Words can’t describe how grateful we are for everything that Jose did for us. We can’t recommend him enough to any couple trying to conceive. Thank you Jose, from the bottom of our hearts!

At that time I was undergoing cycles w/ FCNE, so Jose just assisted those cycles w/ acupuncture. Well, after 3 IUI’s and 2 IVF’s that all failed, I had enough. I could not be more pleased to write a testimonial as to how great Jose Ruiz is in treating infertility. My husband and I started our infertility journey in December of 2012. I was 38 and he was 42. We went right to IVF for male factor reasons and after I started my first cycle it became clear that I also was a contributing factor to our infertility. I was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve and am a poor responder to fertility medication. I went through 4 IVF cycles between December and August 2013. Through each cycle I never had more than 2 eggs fertilize and they weren’t good quality. I decided I needed to regroup and take a break after these failures. I found Jose and Family Acupuncture and set up a consultation. The minute I started talking to Jose I knew I was in the right place. He was so thorough and easy to talk to. Myself and husband have been clients of Family Acupuncture and Herbs of Reading for approximately 4 years. My husband has cervical radiculopathy that cannot be addressed surgically due to a serious heart condition. Doctors gave pain meds and physical therapy but that would either make him unable to work or increase symptoms. Jose has been able to keep debilitating pain at bay with regular sessions every 3 weeks. It was a process to get at this state but it works. My husband was the biggest skeptic but now refers everyone. I continue every three weeks due to an autoimmune system problem along with chronic back pain. Walking, crawling in and leaving with a light stride is wonderful relief. I cant say all medical providers agree with Alternative therapies. To this I ask do they have back, knee pain, fatigue or headaches? If they say yes, (which I know they will) try this out then give an opinion. Upon recommendation from a friend I decided to try to find some relief for my migraine headaches from Jose at Family Acupuncture & Herbs of Reading. I had previously been to a chiropractor, tried medication and was still suffering. I have chronic GI problems and at this time in my life I was in a terrible flare-up caused by extreme stress and poor dietary choices. I called Jose and told him how miserable I was, and he fit me in that day. He gave me herbs which I took daily for about 4-5 weeks, and did double-sided acupuncture treatments two times per week to start. After just two doses of herbs I noticed an improvement, and with continued acupuncture, I had great relief from my symptoms. The stress and anxiety just disappeared, and the GI symptoms improved so much that I was able to work regularly and go out with friends again. I now see Jose once every two weeks for maintenance. Jose is patient, kind, and empathetic. He will spend a lot of time with you if you need it. I highly recommend his practice!
